Oh no, it's a bait car! B.C.'s auto crime fighting tool makes an impact

The region’s bait car program — believed to be the world’s biggest — is run by 22 specialist officers in the Integrated Municipal Provincial Auto Crime Team (IMPACT) and they are making an impact. Bait car thefts led directly to 304 arrests since 2014, and 45 to date in 2019.

The region’s bait car program — believed to be the world’s biggest — is run by 22 specialist officers in the Integrated Municipal Provincial Auto Crime Team (IMPACT) and they are making an impact. Bait car thefts led directly to 304 arrests since 2014, and 45 to date in 2019.

IMPACT — made up of officers from the Vancouver Police Department, RCMP, Delta, New Westminster and Transit Police — has made 648 arrests in total since 2014, plus another 73 so far in 2019.
