Chopshop Discovered

On October 13, 2015 IMPACT (Integrated Municipal Provincial Auto Crime Team), Surrey RCMP Auto Crime Target Team and ICBC SIU executed a search warrant at a rural property in the 2300 block of 176th Street in Surrey. This was done with the assistance of Lower Mainland District Emergency Response Team, LMD Police Dog Services, LMD Integrated Forensic Identification Services and the Urban Patrol Helicopter. Investigation revealed that this property was being used to dismantle stolen pick-up trucks.

Two men were arrested separately in relation to this file, one in Surrey, the other in Langley. Charges are pending on a number of individuals related to the property.

"Most vehicles stolen in BC are recovered so it is unusual to find an operation like this where stolen vehicles are being dismantled and reassembled to appear as a legitimate vehicle," says Inspector Peter Jadis, Officer in Charge of IMPACT.
