Help Wanted to Put IMPACT Out Of Business!
IMPACT, B.C.s Auto Crime Team is seeking the public’s help in putting them out of business. Inspector Brian MacDonald, the Officer in Charge of the team, is asking the public to do what they can to eliminate the need for the officers. "We believe that the need for our services will diminish if the public would follow some simple steps. Don’t leave valuables in your vehicles, use an anti-theft device, and treat your keys like cash. These are a few of the things everyone can do to reduce Auto Crime".
In the Lower Mainland, several vehicles are stolen every day as a result of keys being left in the vehicle. Cars and trucks are left running and unattended while the owners are away from the car. Spare keys are left in the glove box. Valuables left in plain view remain a tempting target for thieves. Even not so valuable items, such as loose change, turn your vehicle into a target.
Nearly one thousand vehicles are broken into every week in the Province of British Columbia.
"Unfortunately, it looks like we will continue to be in business", said Inspector MacDonald, "I am hopeful that with the public’s help we can reduce Auto Crime."
