For nearly two decades, this program has been a vital component of our commitment to enhancing community safety. While the Vancouver Police Department runs an independent bait car program within the City of Vancouver, IMPACT extends its reach by providing bait cars to the surrounding sixteen municipalities.

File # 2022-9323On May 31, 2022, members of the Integrated Municipal Provincial Auto Crime Team (IMPACT), with assistance from members of the New Westminster Police Department (@newwestpd), Lower Mainland District Integrated Police Dog Services, Surrey RCMP, CFSEU (@cfseubc) and RCMP Air Services, arrested three men and recovered seven (7) Lexus RX350 vehicles that had been stolen from around the lower mainland.Three of the vehicles were recovered from a shipping container at a salvage yard in Surrey. Three more of the vehicles were recovered from a shipping container that had been moved from the Surrey salvage yard to a truck yard in New Westminster. The seventh vehicle was recovered roadside in a Surrey neighbourhood where it was parked. It is believed these vehicles were destined to be shipped to eastern Canada, then overseas.The three men, believed to be from Quebec, have been charged with Theft Over $5,000. They are in custody and will appear in court June 6, 2022 at 9:30 am.Yahya ZITOUNI, 21 years old

File # 2022-8360Two alleged suspects have been arrested by the Integrated Municipal Provincial Auto Crime Team (IMPACT), following the theft of two vehicles in Surrey on May 17, 2022.At approximately 2:38 pm on Wednesday, May 17, members of IMPACT located a mobile stolen vehicle with two occupants near the area of 152 Street and Canary Drive in Surrey. IMPACT members observed the passenger leave the vehicle and allegedly steal a second vehicle. Both vehicles then drove away together. At approximately 3:35 pm, IMPACT members arrested 31-year old Mike Inthapanya in the 10600 block of 132 Street in Surrey when the alleged suspect attempted to discard the stolen vehicle.With the assistance of RCMP Air 1 and Lower Mainland District Integrated Police Dog Services, IMPACT was able to maintain continuity of the second stolen vehicle and arrest 29-year old Erin Norman at approximately 4:10 pm in the 14400 block of 104 Avenue in Surrey."Great work by the team to get both these suspects safely into custody and off of our roads", states Corporal Jordan Davies, acting Operations Officer for IMPACT.Inthapanya is scheduled for court next week and is currently facing the following charges:
